Introduction
Resilient Futures started off as a grassroots idea. A group of like-minded and innovative thinkers came together in the USA and Australia to develop strategy that worked with complex change as an opportunity, not as a problem or crisis. The outcome of this thinking and its application to real-world issues was the development of the Resilient Futures Framework and an affiliated global network of thinkers, strategists, coaches and practitioners.
The Framework is one of the few well developed examples of ‘Next Practice’, a concept which recognizes that businesses and communities need new ways of thinking and acting in times of massive change.
Resilient Futures strategy is an action-based way of leading organizations and communities through complex change. Its principles, processes and practices are contributing meaningfully to changing leadership and management styles in the face of new and dynamic conditions.
Organizations interested in Resilient Futures look for answers to the following types of questions:
- What is complex change and how should we think about and ‘approach’ it?
- How will changing conditions impact on how we operate and how we add value for our customers/citizens/communities?
- What capabilities will the emerging conditions demand for us to survive and thrive? How do we create opportunities that take advantage of change? What and how should we implement actions, and when?
- How do we continually monitor change and our actions so that we stay in tune with, and ahead of change, constantly and progressively adding new value?
